Facilitate daily operations of animal facility, including technical tasks, housekeeping, and record keeping for nonhuman primates, ferrets and mice, and perform specialized technical procedures or assist in animal experiments. Position requires a BS,and 3+ years in this field with live animals.less thanbr>less thanbr>less thanb>Responsibilities: Veteran Militaryless than/b>less thanul>less thanli>Assist with necropsy procedures, including tissue collection.less than/li>less thanli>Collect, verify, and correlate facility records and make timely reports to the supervisor.less than/li>less thanli>Collect blood, tissue and various fluid samples from the animals.less than/li>less thanli>Perform various IV, SC, intranasal and intramuscular injections.less than/li>less thanli>Perform anesthesia and euthanasia, as required.less than/li>less thanli>Read and understand SOPs for animal facilities.less than/li>less thanli>Perform routine inoculations.less than/li>less thanli>Assist in the processing and shipment of serum/tissue samples.less than/li>less thanli>Attend seminars and training.less than/li>less thanli>Assist and perform limited and supervised duties of Project Managers.less than/li>less than/ul>less thanbr>less thanb>Requirements: Veteran Militaryless than/b>less thanul>less thanli>US Veteran, National Guardsman, Reservist or Military Spouse.less than/li>less thanli>BS,less thani>preferredless than/i>in Biology, Animal Science or related fieldless than/li>less thanli>3+ years in this field with live animals.less than/li>less thanli>Completion of college level Laboratory Animal Technician program, ALAT, LAT or LATG certification from AALASless thani>preferredless than/i>.less than/li>less thanli>Must be able to work either 7:30 am-4:00pm; 6:30am-3:00pm.less than/li>less thanli>Considerable knowledge of the care and handling of laboratory animals.less than/li>less thanli>Knowledge of biology and physical characteristics of animals used in research.less than/li>less thanli>Ability to recognize signs of illness and abnormalities.less than/li>less thanli>Knowledge of methods and materials used in laboratory work.less than/li>less thanli>Able to work and communicate professionally with investigators, supervisors and caretakers.less than/li>less thanli>Able to make accurate observations, keep current, accurate, and complete records.less than/li>less thanli>Able to read, understand, and interpret written and oral instruction and perform math calculations for experimental procedures.less than/li>less than/ul>
