Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Lab Technician in Rockport, Indiana
Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Laboratory Technician at our Rockport Works operation. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing multiple required tests on materials per the Quality Standard Operating Procedures (QSOP).
Summary of Responsibilities:
Conducts self in a manner that sets a high standard of excellence for safety performance
Attends daily safety meetings, toolbox talk and quality meetings
Performs safety and quality observations
Follows all JSHA’s and QSOP’s for each test as required
Gathers samples from Sample Tech and/or picks up the analytical testing samples from the main pot and returns to the lab
Identifies which materials need tested and performs oldest material first or as directed by the Laboratory Leader
Records and enters results into LIMS and/or appropriate spreadsheets; calls in results for analytical testing
Appropriately discards samples after running them
Completes and documents verifications of machinery, test blocks, calipers, weights, lights and robots
Interacts with production regarding analytical testing and formability testing
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to interact with peers and management in a positive manner
Adapts effectively to changing plans and priorities
Ability to work rotating schedule; including nights, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Solid computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products
