Integrated Packaging Machinery, LLC Controls Engineering Department Manager in Rockford, Michigan
The Controls Department Manager is responsible for the successful planning, managing and executing all aspects of controls installation packaging equipment activities & personnel.
Responsibilities:
Lead & develop skills of controls technicians in a collaborative manner.
Lead & develop skills of controls engineers in a collaborative manner.
Lead the standards for all IPM controls engineering work.
Collaborate with all other department managers to ensure efficient flow of work. Build rapport with fellow mangers to allow for cross departmental collaboration.
Work closely with the Mechanical Installation Manager to coordinate & optimize installations. This includes resource allocation, schedule development & adherence, etc. based on project requirements.
Work closely with Mechanical Engineering Manager to ensure equipment designs are integrated between mechanical and electrical scopes.
Communicate & enforce IPM and/or customer safety standards for onsite installations. Ensure all personnel have proper & up to date safety training.
Evaluate project requirements and allocate sufficient controls resources to ensure that installations meet IPM & customer standards related to safety, quality & schedule.
Develop project budgets with PM's that maximize profitability, track costs and monitor progress utilizing EPICOR.
Assist the Project Managers with defining the installation scope & schedule per customer requirements.
Coordinate with Project Mangers to ensure that installation crews have all necessary project documentation and/or equipment. This includes but is not limited to panels, drawings, hardware, software and electrical devices.
Maintain an up to date status of the controls work for all projects running through IPM.
Maintain and communicate a resource schedule to controls technicians & Project Managers based on project resource requests in a timely manner.
Develop project budgets for Controls hardware, software and commissioning that maximize profitability, track costs, staffing, and monitor progress utilizing EPICOR.
Evaluate & initiate continuous improvement initiatives for installations that will improve the profitability of IPM.
Participate in the interviewing, hiring and onboarding of team members to ensure technical and IPM Principles fit.
Conduct annual performance reviews, provide input; data, observations, feedback and follow compensation guidelines.
Develop and implement a training plan for installers/technicians & track maintain an up to date training status of all installers/technicians.
Maintain departmental KPI's according to specific requirements.
