Summary

This role will provide daily IT delivery and support for technology at a Simplot manufacturing facility. This includes but is not limited to servers, desktop hardware and software, networking and communications equipment, factory technologies and user support following the IT center-led processes and standards. Researches, designs, develops, configures, integrates, tests and maintains existing and new technology solutions, primarily infrastructure.

Provides support of infrastructure, applications and systems. This support includes, but is not limited to, the following services: voice communication systems, maintenance and administration of network services, servers and desktop hardware, application support, factory data center operations and security administration. Manages service requests, requests for change, and works with others at Simplot sites in IT and manager as appropriate. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the site organization to global IT organization.

Ability to apply intermediate to expert level of subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common business issues. Works on problems and projects of moderately complex scope. Utilizes professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education or previous experience. Exercises independent judgment within defined parameters or practices to determine appropriate action. Develops expertise and practical knowledge of applications within business environment. Acts as an informed team member by providing information, analysis and recommendations in support of team efforts. Evaluates unique circumstances and collaborates with applicable IT teams to make recommendations.

Must currently reside or be willing to relocate to Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implements end-user technology, enterprise infrastructure, applications or services of moderate to advanced complexity, partnering with other business or IT engineering teams on more complex solutions.

  • Applies technical knowledge to operate, administer and support infrastructure or software platforms and user groups of moderate to advanced complexity.

  • Partners with factory site engineers, management, global IT or members of a given team as appropriate.

  • Performs intermediate to advanced analysis of functional or service requirements using fundamental understanding of IT Business process or problems.

  • Can independently resolve some highly complex technical issues within a given technical area.

  • Identifies potential escalations and proactively alerts management.

  • Provides solutions to prevent problems from occurring in area of responsibility including patch management.

  • Reviews, implements and verifies changes/solutions of intermediate to advanced complexity and risk.

  • Ensures configuration management to applicable systems are complete and accurate.

  • Participates as a member of an IT technical team or teams.

  • May act as an Incident coordinator or subject matter expert to provide resolution for complex issues.

  • Represents global IT team to local site(s).

  • Demonstrates technical leadership, and exerts influence outside of immediate team

  • Collaborates with other teams on innovative technology solutions, primarily for manufacturing sites and partnering with global IT on innovative solutions.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, equivalent education and experience may be considered

Relevant Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong experience with infrastructure environments (e.g. operating system, hardware, data center, security, network, voice, end user and server / web related applications).

  • Strong experience with business IT applications (e.g. supply chain, customer relationship mgmt., HR, finance).

  • Experience in scripting and / or programming language.

  • Experience with implementation, problem analysis and delivery of infrastructure and business application environments.

  • Foundational knowledge and experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) reference model.

  • Experience interfacing with vendors for support and maintenance; escalates as needed

  • Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility and self-confidence.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.

  • Strong initiative, integrity, problem solving, priority setting, and collaboration skills.

  • Good organizational and analytical skills.

  • Exhibits a high level of initiative and integrity.

  • Experience working collaboratively and independently in support of team efforts, suggest technical solution recommendations.

Other Information

  • Travel may be required to other regional locations in order to resolve issues or provide on-site support.

  • Work will be performed in onsite locations that will include non-traditional IT environments (manufacturing areas, cold, heat, noisy, dirty or wet environments).

  • Able to do physical exertion, including but not limited to

  • Ability to climb stairs multiple times per day, some locations do NOT have elevators

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Ability to walk over one mile per day without assistance

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Adhere to all personal protective environment gear requirements and safety practices required at Simplot Manufacturing and Warehouse sites.

  • May include working at heights.

  • Steel toe and slip resistant shoes are required.
