Beaver County Transit Authority Service Worker in Rochester, Pennsylvania

This position performs light vehicle maintenance such as replacing fluids, fueling, vehicle cleanliness and cleaning of maintenance areas.

 

Reporting Relationships

 

Reports to:     Maintenance Manager

 

Supervises:   None

  1. Cleans the exterior and interior of vehicles using hand and power equipment.
  2. Cleans and sterilizes interior of vehicles, including the removal of trash and gum, using broom, cloth, mop, vacuum cleaner, whisk broom, sterilizing sprays and sanitizers.
  3. Wash interior windows, dash area, seats, seatbelts, ceiling and walls.
  4. Fuels buses and checks oil and water levels and accurately records hub and/or odometer reading and fuel usage.
  5. Fare-box removal -- responsible for daily removal of fare-box vaults from the buses and assuring they are secured in the fare collection room.
  6. Checks interior and exterior of vehicle for vandalism, damage and conditions which could injure passengers or their clothing and reports damage to supervisor.
  7. Cleans exterior of vehicle, including tires and exterior windows, to remove dirt, gravel and oil, by using steam cleaning equipment or bus wash, or by spraying or washing vehicles utilizing spraying equipment, brush, sponge or cloth.
  8. Stock supplies in vehicle compartments and post notices on buses as deemed necessary.
  9. Turn valves or handles on equipment as necessary.
  10. Mix cleaning solutions and abrasive compositions with other compounds according to formula.
  11. Trade out buses and assists with road calls as directed.
  12. Moves and lines up buses in yard and storage facility.
  13. Must be able to follow safety procedures including wearing personal protective equipment.
  14. Must be able to operate Authority vehicles in a safe manner.
  15. Maintain a clean and safe work area by clearing floors and work surfaces of trash, cleaning up spills and debris and returning working materials and equipment to proper storage.
  16. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and working order.
  17. Performs normal building cleaning duties and general seasonal work on the grounds.
  18. Follows company protocol and procedures during shift without direct supervision.
  19. Must be able to act appropriately when faced with emergency situation by the utilization of common sense coupled with following Authority protocol and procedures.
  20. Must recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
  21. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
  22. Must be able to follow directions and communicate with Supervisory personnel.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

     

Working Conditions:

  • Duties are primarily performed in the shop.
  • Must be able to work in wet, hot and cold area for prolonged periods of time.
  • May be required to work outside in varying weather conditions. 
  • Traveling to emergency sites to assure equipment operation may be required.
  • Must be available to report to work Monday through Friday; 4:00pm to 12:30am and every other Saturday.
  • Comply with and participate in Authority training sessions inside and outside of regular work shift.

Must be at least 23 years old and able to pass a DOT physical and alcohol test.  A clean driving record is required with having a  driver's license for at least three years.
