University of Rochester Scholar and Employee Data Program Manager, ISO in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of ISO’s Assistant Director for Scholar and Employee Services and with a dotted reporting line to the Associate Director for Systems and Operations, this position supports the needs of international scholars and employees holding J-1, H-1B, O-1, and TN visas. The role is responsible for developing processes and protocols and management of immigration data. The incumbent will ensure compliance with government regulations, manage data and records integration, and facilitate communication regarding data errors and reporting obligations. This position contributes to maintaining the professional reputation and welcoming environment of ISO, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Delivery & Program Support

  • Facilitate data integration for newly appointed scholars and employees, including the creation and editing of records, accurate mapping of electronic documents, casework routing, and arrival preparations.

  • Oversee required employment reporting for international employees, including work authorization details and validation reporting.

  • Provide logistical support for service initiatives such as mass document issuance and tax form assistance.

  • Contribute to ISO programming as assigned, including orientation activities and targeted presentations.

  • Maintain a creative, helpful, and pragmatic approach to individual case needs and University initiatives.

  • Undertake additional duties, special projects, and general office support as assigned.

Communications and Outreach

  • Collaborate with scholars, employees, and academic departments regarding changes to data systems.

  • Facilitate departmental training on systems and immigration regulations

  • Advise on basic immigration concepts, ISO services, reporting tools, and relevant external resources.

  • Monitor communication channels to ensure timely data collection and processing.

  • Produce custom reports using various systems to support ISO staff, campus partners, and senior leadership.

  • Assist with annual government and institutional reports.

  • Ensure a professional, welcoming, and culturally sensitive environment for the University community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in social or technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Three years of work experience in data analysis and systems support required.

  • Experience working with international scholars/employees and/or prior experience as DSO/ARO preferred

  • Regulatory knowledge of J-1, H-1B, O-1, TN preferred

  • Strong critical thinking skills and independent judgment under limited supervision are required.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident per federal regulations required.

  • Specific expertise with Microsoft Excel functionality and database lookup tools (MS SQL) is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of F, J and employment-based visa/immigration regulations preferred.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary preferred.

  • Microsoft Certification in Excel, 360, One Note, Share Point and Co-Pilot preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $51,810 - $2,534 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
