The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The Genomic Research Center (GRC) at the University of Rochester is seeking a creative and motivated candidate with strong interest high-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in molecular biology techniques necessary to process and isolate nucleic acid material from cells or tissue, preparatory work for HTS library construction, and conducting HTS library construction processing following standard operating procedures. In addition, the candidate should be broadly knowledgeable in various molecular biology techniques and be capable of efficient multi-tasking and communication. The GRC is a highly interactive environment with opportunities to engage in cross- disciplinary collaborations that span clinical and basic science research. Candidates with a strong background in molecular biology and genomics are highly encouraged to apply for this position.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process RNA, cDNA, and DNA samples through quality control workflows, including data analysis and result interpretation
Sequencer operation following standard operating procedures. Maintain sequencers and ensure they are working properly. Contact technical support, as directed.
Preparatory work for high throughput library construction and sequencing, including sample purification, normalization and pooling.
Nucleic Acid extraction/purification, including RNA and DNA.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cold storage and restocking of lab supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required.
Associates degree in Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study preferred.
5 years of experience with performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities; compiling and collecting data and preparing reports required.

OSHA safety requirements; scientific methods required.
