University of Rochester Research Specialist II in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

The duties will include:

  1. Managing laboratory rodent colony. Which will include cataloging and monitoring of all our rodents including mice, naked mole rats, blind mole rats and Damaraland mole rats and other rodent species.

  2. Perform behavioral and physiological studies with mice.

  3. Breed, genotype, monitor laboratory transgenic mice.

  4. Maintain mouse aging colonies.

  5. Maintain and update all laboratory UCAR protocols. Address all UCAR questions and concerns. Coordinate and communicate with lab members about all modifications in animal protocols and issues raised by UCAR.

  6. Train and supervise undergraduates involved in cleaning and feeding naked mole rat and Damaraland mole rat colonies.

Requirements:

The ideal applicant must have 3+ years of experience working with laboratory rodents including breeding, genotyping, behavioral and physiology studies in mice and regulatory compliance.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $55,955 - $78,336 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
