Job Title:Program Coordinator

Department:Financial Services

Program:Volunteer Financial Management

Supervisor:Financial Services Program Director

Status:Non-exempt Hourly 37.5 hours weekly

Hourly Rate:up to $21.00

SUMMARY

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of Financial Services volunteers. This includes recruiting and training of new volunteers and maintaining current volunteer base. The Program Coordinator generally maintains a caseload between 15-20 clients. The Program Coordinator assists older adults in managing their financial affairs and provides assistance in planning and maintaining their long-term financial security. The Program Coordinator is responsible for direct program outreach which entails coordinating and facilitating group presentations to groups of older adults and community professionals. about program services and about avoiding financial crises and maintaining financial security. The Program Coordinator works with a team, providing bill payer services in multiple counties (Ontario, Livingston, Orleans, Monroe, and Genesee). Travel is involved amongst and between counties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide education and outreach/marketing activities.

  2. Recruit, train and maintain volunteers.

  3. Provide orientation to new volunteers

  4. Coordinate monthly volunteer meetings.

  5. Link and manage volunteer client assignments.

  6. Maintain volunteer resource manual.

  7. Maintain program quality assurance.

  8. Assess client financial situation and determine appropriate actions to assist client in becoming as financially secure as possible.

  9. Advocate on behalf of clients with financial or other third parties.

  10. Provide appropriate financial counseling and/or budgeting services to ensure long-term security.

  11. Assist with financial decision-making.

  12. Link and refer to community resources for the client to remain as independent as possible.

  13. Maintain and manage all records, reports and statistics as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  14. Knowledge of eligibility requirements and application processes of benefits and programs applicable to clients, including but not limited to SSI and Medicaid, MMLTC, VA, Medicare, SNT.

  15. Networking with other Lifespan programs to meet the needs of the clients.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Minimum requirement AAS degree; Bachelors preferred or equivalent experience

Experience:Three year’ s experience in financial services, banking, or social work

Working knowledge of community resources, benefits, and faith-based organizations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB

· Must be able to meet with individuals in their home environment and in a variety of community settings including senior centers.

· A portion of the work is performed at a desk or workstation

· Must demonstrate verbal, written, organizational and leadership skills

· Must be able to maintain composure under difficult and challenging situations

· Must be able to work in multi-cultural situations

· Must have valid NYS driver license and reliable transportation

· Must demonstrate computer skills: working knowledge of Excel, Access, word, outlook, internet web-based programs and web applications

· Normal daily walking and sitting.

· Frequent computer usage.

· Some lifting (files, etc.) <20 lbs.
