Nexstar Media Group Production Director in Rochester, New York

WROC-TV News 8, a CBS affiliate, seeks a detail-oriented individual to coordinate the efforts of the Production department on-air and behind the scenes. As the Director, you are the driving force for our on-air product, making it stand out from the competition while creating visually dynamic and error-free broadcasts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Code and Direct daily live local newscasts and other live and prerecorded productions using Ross OverDrive and ENPS.

  • Work closely with News Producers, Photographers, Engineers and other Directors to enhance our final on-air product.

  • Edit with technical proficiency and visual effectiveness using Adobe Premiere.

  • Work well in a collaborative team environment; multitasking, problem-solving and making last-minute decisions under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Be self-sufficient, managing multiple projects with competing priorities.

  • Perform other job-related requests and duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience is preferred.

  • Experience in news operations and/or production is preferred.

  • Ross OverDrive, ENPS and Adobe Premiere experience a plus.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills; fluent in English, oral and written.

  • Available to work all dayparts (mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays), as well as extended hours as assigned.

  • Compensation $17-$18/hour commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.
