Bausch + Lomb Plastic Injection Molding Technician in Rochester, New York

Hours : M-F; 6:00am-2:30pm with some need for flexible hours to support manufacturing plant operations

Objective :

This technician will support Plastics and Process activity for operations, mold audit data review, and continuity of supply and maintenance of business functions.

Key Responsibilites:

• Work directly with operations staff and tool room PM staff to optimize molding utilization.

• Set up and optimization of optical and non-optical tooling.

• Review daily mold audit yield data and take actions as needed.

• Optimization of processing conditions of primary and secondary equipment.

• Assist in process and yield improvement programs.

• Training of manufacturing operators and maintenance staff.

• Support development of process documentation.

• Demonstrated depth of knowledge in all areas of contact lens molding process and equipment.

• Working knowledge and ability in injection mold tooling and ancillary equipment setup, debug, and qualification.

• Ability to draft operational work instructions and procedures and effectively train other technicians or operational personnel.

• Ability to independently summarize data and draw conclusions from molding audit data.

• Ability to independently troubleshoot process and equipment issues in development or manufacturing environments.

Scope/Relationships:

• An individual contributor responsible for supporting the direction established by engineering in areas of plastics and process engineering.

• Can provide daily support to operate equipment and support molding

• Ability to work as a member of a molding team for both mold PM activities and operations.

• Responsible for communication within the operations and engineers

Qualifications :

• Two-year technical degree is preferrable. High school graduate with strong math & science background required.

• 3-5 years hands on plastics processing and set up experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Strong process troubleshooting experience with a variety of equipment.

• Ability to read simple blueprints and utilize small hand tools and test equipment.

• Experience with high volume and/or high precision manufacturing.

• Good problem-solving skills and a sound technical background.

• Technical writing and documentation.

• Ability to communicate and work in cross-functional teams.

• Ability to work without close supervision.

• Demonstrated skills in plastics components manufacturing including molding machine operation, familiarity with injection molding tooling and tight tolerance part inspection.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For New York State, the range of starting hourly pay for this role is $20.97-$32.15 per hour.
