The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities:
Provides service support to the customer base within the Medical center. Maintains the proper environment to ensure the medical center can perform its service to the community and support the function of building systems. Backfills for the duties of the Refrigeration Mechanic A at any time as required. Maintains uninterrupted services to a very diverse customer base including a trauma medical center, research and teaching facilities. Complies with the safety regulations and policies of the University of Rochester, MCFO and all local state and Federal agencies having jurisdiction.Schedule MON-FRI 7:30 AM-4 PM; OCC WKNDS; ROT HOLS Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Provides service support to the customer base within the Medical center. SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED: Receives minimal direction from the HVAC Planner / Schedulers and HVAC Manager of Medical Center Facilities Operations. MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, telephone, hand tools, welding machine, electrical testing equipment, break machine, acetylene torch and radios TYPICAL DUTIES: - Performs service calls, work orders, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and reconditioning work. - Disassembles, inspects/examine system components such as receiver controls, electronic, pneumatic controls, dampers, and valves to detect mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic malfunctions making recommendations, necessary repairs or replacement. - Has functional working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and related HVAC equipment. - Troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical systems. Performs root cause analysis to identify failure and needed repairs to maintain safe and efficient operations. - Must solder, braze and weld all types of materials such as brass, copper, & aluminum alloys. - Acts in the capacity of instructor, troubleshooter and specialist. Leads by example understanding own limitations and strives to learn more. - Investigates shutdowns, documents and provides notice to customers, trades and outside contractors. - Works with trades and outside contractors as necessary keeping the quality of work and costs in line. - Must work with refrigerants and refrigeration equipment documenting results in the University CFC log, meeting EPA, local and State laws. QUALIFICATIONS: High school education and 4-6 years experience as a building HVAC and controls mechanic; experience in an electrical/mechanical trade education or related environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ability to read and write English and make mathematical calculations required. Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations required. Preferred candidates will have an associate's degree in a relevant field.
