What impact you’ll make

As a member of the Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Automation team you will:

  • Research setup of computer and networking hardware and software infra-structures and develop automation scripts to support Software Development Pipeline Processes and Test Automation.

  • Utilize GE Cloud DevOps Tools, as well as using GE MDS products as Unit-Under-Test.

  • Secondary duties may include assisting with designing/developing sub-systems and features in Software Development.

What you’ll do

  • Research existing GE Cloud DevOps Tools to support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes for existing GE MDS software components.

  • Successfully integration of the GE Cloud DevOps tools into the existing GE MDS CI/CD process (ex: python robotframework supporting GE end-to-end functional Software System Regression Automation).

  • As part of the development process, follows engineering processes, practices, and procedures.

  • Report progress and status to project management.

  • Perform rough estimates of time required to implement features and resolve issues, helping with task prioritization process.

  • Work on an assignment / project within the engineering & technology; to stretch your learning and skillset.

  • Must be highly self-motivated and be able to work under minimal supervision

  • Use your academic knowledge to complete assigned project(s), deliver customer outcomes and improve the operation of our business.

  • Learn and utilize software development techniques for disciplined design rigor.

Internship Term Dates:

September - December 2024 (10-12 week assignment)

Expected Work Schedule:

Day/1st -Shift (40 - hours weekly)

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in in a technical field of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or IT.

  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

  • Experience in Computer and Networking administration (ex: Linux, Windows).

  • Experience in software development and revision control, such as git/GitHub.

  • Ability to follow formal software design principles and development processes.

  • Experience in python script development.

  • Experience in Linux bash and Windows Batch scripts.

  • Some knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, HTTP, DHCP

  • Working understanding of JIRA, Confluence (or equivalent tools).

  • Working understanding of physical network topologies and Ethernet bridging.

  • Due to access to export controlled information, you must be one of the following:

  • Be a US Citizen or national;

  • US permanent resident;

  • Person granted refugee status;

  • Person granted asylee status or Beneficiary of legalization through an amnesty program, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

What will make you stand out

  • Some knowledge of Jenkins, Ansible or Puppet.

  • Proficient in C++ programming.

  • Experience creating Web UIs using twitter bootstrap.

  • Experience using Backbone.js

  • Familiar with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, HTTP, DHCP

  • Working understanding of physical network topologies and Ethernet bridging

  • A strong commitment to a career in engineering, computer science, or IT.

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hour to $34.00 /hour based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

This position is also eligible for:

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.

  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.

  • Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services

  • GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
