Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for the daily food prep, including rotation/putting away loads, proper cook temps, maintaining a clean environment/workplace, and any additional tasks needed to provide the support needed in all our dining areas as well as catering functions and special events. Responsibilities include:
Setting up service equipment and procuring food items from main kitchen on a daily basis.
Menu planning for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, providing variety and utilizing knowledge of preferences.
Maintains open communication with co-workers to ensure that all foods are properly prepared and served (appearance and temperature).
Follows as well as guides co-workers on proper techniques of food handling, recipe following and proper food storage.
Utilizes “clean as you go” policy whenever doing and food preparation.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent is required.
Servsafe Certified.
The ability to follow written and oral instructions in English and be able to follow menus and recipes.
Two to four years’ experience as a cook in a high-volume kitchen preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for long periods of time, sitting, stooping, walking, bending, and heavy lifting (40-50 lbs.).
Exposure to Conditions:
Utilizing cleaning agents, working with hot ovens, grease and steam, walking on wet surfaces, using kitchen knives, slicer and electric chopper.
