University of Rochester Colorectal Surgery (Inpatient) - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Work in an empowering and collaborative relationship with surgeons within the Division of Colorectal Surgery, providing supportive and independent care to primarily inpatients under the care of Colorectal Surgery. Responsible for direct patient care, with opportunity to expand into the out-patient clinics. Required: adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patient and staff, and assurance of service excellent. Candidate must possess communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. As well as a willingness to learn new skills and a firm team work ethic. Completion of a state and hospital required reviews of practice, participation in performance improvement and other activities as required. Must be NYS licensed. National certification is required, and if NP, if not currently certified must be done within three months. Prior surgical experience is preferred. Must be ANCC or ACNP Board Certified if NP and PAs are required completion of ARC-PA accredited PA program. Willing to train new graduates. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA ( National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
