University of Rochester Asst Director, Clinical Administration in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Cerebrovascular Division Manager, Clinical Administration within the Comprehensive Stoke Center assesses and institutes optimal patient and procedural workflows, instructs interdisciplinary teams, oversees outside hospital and EMS stroke patient feedback takes part in quality improvement initiatives related to surgical stroke care. Provides education about regional cerebrovascular initiates, acts as co-administrator of the Cabrini Stroke Literacy Community Education grant, and oversees daily administrative activities of the UR Medicine Mobile Stroke Unit and the UR Medicine Teleneurosurgery program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Administrator: Cerebrovascular Division

  • Analyzes Cerebrovascular Division operations and identifies areas for workflow improvement to ensure rapid, optimal stroke care, in accordance with AHA/ ASA guidelines.

  • Establishes programmatic initiatives designed to meet and exceed quality standands and implements necessary clinical improvements and monitors performance metrics in support of continuous improvement for the Division.

  • Responsible for management of all Cerebrovascular Division data analysis, analyzes and interprets data for trends and presents results and policy recommendations to Cerebrovascular Division Chief and Faculty

  • Leads and directs Division interdepartmental Comprehensive Stroke Center operations.

OR Clinical Manager – OR neurovascular tech team:

  • Directs daily operations of OR neurovascular tech team (8-10 individuals).

  • Identifies practice problems and formulates methods to assure and monitor tech team quality, and provides periodic reports to CV & Stroke Division Chief.

  • Identifies, develops and implements leadership and staff development programs and experiences to assure competency in practice.

  • Evaluates staff performance and conjunction with CV & Stroke Division Chief and Lead Neurovascular Technologist, including identification of additional training opportunities and resources, and development of action plans when required.

  • Creates, writes, and presents rationale and recommendations to CV & Stroke Division Chief for expansion of neuro tech team, including development of job descriptions associated with new OR Neurovascular Service Line.

  • Identifies needs and provides rationale for contracted resources, including securing travelers and team expansion, where necessary.

Regional Outreach

  • Communicates with regional hospitals and EMS about patient transfers, provides policy recommendations designed to improve the emergent stroke transfer process.

  • Develops clinical agendas for MD education programs, proofing clinical content for development of clinical protocols, brochures, and other outreach resources and tools.

  • Manages regional and interdepartmental “Code LVO” surgical stroke program.

MSU Administrative Manager

  • Provides direction, organization, and supervision for the Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) program.

  • Hires and manages MSU RN and CT staff to ensure high quality patient care, research, and community relations.

  • Ensures compliance with Radiation Safety and Department of Health specifications to meet federal, state, and local standards.

  • Creates, writes, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and supplies to comply with state and city ambulance, lab and CT scan licensure.

  • Creates, identifies, and implements procedural and protocol changes to streamline processes when problems and/or trends arise.

  • Monitors financial agreements related to the MSU; ensures financial compliance by MSU and partner agency, in accordance with contract.

  • Oversees ongoing review and revision of policies, treatment guidelines, benchmarks and patient care metrics as program develops and grows.

  • Oversees MSU quality reporting from RedCAP database.

Mother Cabrini Health Foundation MSU Stroke Literacy Program Grant Manager

  • Writes grant application and all program reports for the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.

  • Evaluates need for grant modifications and no cost extensions when needed to facilitate optimal execution of grant goals.

  • Prepares MCHF Grant Budget and works with Finance to submit expenditure reports.

CAST CNS-Endovascular Fellowship Program

  • Administrative Director of the Department of Neurosurgery’s CNS-Endovascular Surgery (CNS-ES) fellowship program, including monitoring and submitting monthly renewal applications to the Society of Neurological Surgeons.

Teleneurosurgery Program Manager

  • Oversees Bassett Health Network Teleneurosurgery program, managing remote consult service with Bassett Hospital and its satellites.

  • Evaluates and updates annual Teleneurosurgery contracts.

Cerebrovascular Disease & Stroke Division Clinical Research Support

  • Coordinates resources for Neurosurgery Research Division on data required for Cerebrovascular studies.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience required;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Strong project management and organizational skills preferred.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills preferred.

  • Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with a team preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $86,482 - $129,723 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
