Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 Annually

QualificationsThe Administrator must have a strong knowledge base of the physical, social, psychological, and recreational needs of older adults and be trained in the supportive care of persons with dementia. Must meet NY State DOH guidelines / qualifications for an administrator. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, 3-5 years’ experience in a geriatric setting. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language with proficiency, enabling a high level of communication with staff, families, and residents. Certified Eden Associate Training is required and will be provided by RPH. Case management and social work experience a plus.
Job Description
Must possess the ability to make mature independent decisions when circumstances warrant such an action in a timely fashion.
Must possess interpersonal skills and the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with other leadership personnel and supervise non-professional personnel.
Must possess the ability to resolve problems that arise, such as mistakes, costly waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, settling grievances, etc. in a win-win manner, if possible.
Must possess the ability to preserve the dignity and self-image of the resident in their presence, regardless of their condition.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to handle difficult resident situations
Must be able to assess psychosocial needs concerning a resident's condition, relying on nursing and medical staff for assessment of physical condition. Must be capable of communicating this information factually and reliably to various sources, such as family or staff members, outside agencies or professionals.
Administrative Functions
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the overall operations of the ALR residence.
Always maintain resident rights. Develop, revise, and implement and written policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Ensure continued compliance with federal and state regulations through attendance with DOH webinars, DAL’s, and Leading Age regulatory updates.
Conduct tours with prospective residents, interview and assess residents for admission as needed.
Responsible for discharge planning, development and implementation of wellness plans and resident assessments.
Engage resident/family in the development of wellness plans when possible.
Function as an advocate for residents, coordinating and linking all aspects of their care.
Inform residents/families of appropriate advocacy agencies, financial assistance programs and legal services when indicated.
Delegate authority and responsibility to other qualified staff members, as deemed appropriate.
Standardize methods in which work will be accomplished.
Participate in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Programs (QAPI) for assigned RPH residences.
Performs comprehensive, concurrent, and retrospective QA reviews in a timely manner, using criteria developed and approved by RPH.
Reports findings to other departments such as utilization review, infection control, and risk management.
Responsible for ensuring all resident incidents are accurately documented in the medical record, logged for tracking purposes, and analyzed for root cause. All incident investigations shall be in writing and attached to a copy of the incident report. Incident investigative reports are completed within 5 days of occurrence.
Document, investigate and resolve grievances /complaints.
Maintain grievances /complaint log to track issues and analyze trends. Identify interventions to prevent reoccurrence. Provide the CEO with written reports identifying the concern, detailing the related investigation and corrective action plans identified for resolution of the concern.
Facilitate/Coordinate survey process (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
Conduct medical record audits to ensure progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident's response to the service.
Involve resident/family in wellness planning objectives and goals through attendance at routine family conferences.
Provide written and/or verbal reports and updates to the CEO as required.
Attend RPH leadership meetings, etc. as scheduled or as may be called.
Facilitate meetings with residence staff on a weekly basis.
Assure the quality and efficient, professional delivery of all resident services, assuring compliance with DOH regulations.
Assure the overall operation of the ALR, SNALR and EALR residence in compliance with nursing scope of practice and all health, safety, and wellness standards.
Personnel Functions
Develop and maintain a cooperative, productive working relationship among all employees.
Make daily rounds to assure high standards of quality care are maintained.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the residences.
Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to stay current with all applicable assisted living regulations and professional standards.
Wellness Plan and Assessment Functions
Responsible for the development of a preliminary and comprehensive evaluation for resident services upon admission of new resident.
Participate in the development of a written wellness plan for each resident, initial plan to be completed upon admission updated biannually or more frequently, as needed.
Schedule and lead team meetings to evaluate and communicate residents’ needs and progress.
Ensure that all staff are aware of each resident's wellness plan and are used in providing daily care.
Programming Functions
Supervise and ensure the quality of personal care, nursing, and health services to residents.
Assist with resident care giving and health observations as necessary.
Ensure quantity and quality of direct care staff is always present.
Dine with the residents daily at noon meal as often as possible.
Establish and Coordinate a Family Council and assist families with education, program planning and support systems. Assist families is accessing needed supportive services.
Leadership Function
Project a positive attitude; demonstrate energy and enthusiasm in pursuing primary responsibilities.
Work alongside staff; praise and recognize their efforts.
Provide challenges for staff to enable and empower.
Initiate cooperative programs with other disciplines and foster a unified team spirit.
Facilitate In service Education Programming regarding Caring for persons with Dementia.
Develop and implement effective communication systems between staff; foster positive interpersonal relationships.
Provide support and counseling and referral to staff as needed.
Demonstrate maturity and professionalism and establish a good working rapport with staff, residents, and families.
Expect and encourage positive staff/ resident interactions.
Be prepared to handle emergencies as they arise and take on - call responsibility as assigned.
Safety and Sanitation
Ensure compliance with all environmental safety standards as well as sanitation standards for meal service.
Ensure that all work areas are kept in a clean, sanitary manner.
