This announcement is filling 7 temporary vacancies with MnDOT’s Planning Internship Program. The following offices will be filling positions:
Metro District – Planning, Program Management & Transit (Roseville, MN): 2 vacancies
Office of Transit and Active Transportation (St. Paul, MN): 2 vacancies
Office of Transportation System Management (St. Paul, MN): 2 vacancies
Office of Sustainability & Public Health (St. Paul, MN): 1 vacancy
MnDOT’s Planning Internship Program seek students and recent graduates to support transportation planning efforts across the state. Planning interns will work closely with experienced planning staff to help develop plans, conduct stakeholder engagement, analyze data, manage transportation system performance measures, and more. In office work schedules are set by each unit or office and will vary across the internship positions. The specific work locations are listed above for each position. If positions allow, there may be flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications
A master’s or bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, urban studies, sociology, political science, or a closely related field.
OR
One year of professional transportation planning experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience or coursework analyzing data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Excel, or similar software.
Experience or coursework developing materials using Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign & Illustrator).
Experience working with diversity and equity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
