Located at our Rochester Hills location, we are seeking a Regional Quality Manager. This position is responsible for assuring quality in all phases of the manufacturing value stream from raw material supply to customers' utilization for the assigned Gates Manufacturing sites in the US. You'll be working with global quality, cross-functional, and business leadership personnel to achieve quality improvement objectives, developing and executing Advanced Product Quality Plans (APQP) for new & existing products, while developing as a successor to regional quality leadership. This is an exciting opportunity for you because as a subject matter expert in quality, you will train and lead the site(s) in establishing inspection sample plans, including the establishment of GR&R studies, Process capability studies, and statistical process controls (SPC), as necessary, due to the criticality of product/process characteristics. Where nonconformance is identified, you will lead the site(s) in employing effective problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. This role has regional Quality leadership responsibilities as well as both customer and supplier-facing responsibilities, the incumbent must be skillful in communication, reporting, follow-up, and project management with a sense of urgency to resolve quality issues. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining an effective ISO9001/IATF16949 Quality Management System and any other mandatory customer status such as FORD Q1, that meets and exceeds customer-specified requirements and industry standards. Key responsibilities: Managing the execution of quality initiatives including prevention and detection controls and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) across operations to achieve strategic quality improvement objectives. (E.g., Customer Incident Rate, PPM, Cost of Poor Quality, Inter-Company Incident Rate, Supplier PPM, QMS Management Review KPIs, etc.). Managing the effectiveness and timely completion of root cause investigation and resolution of the customer, warranty, and supplier quality incidents in compliance with industry best practice "closed loop" methodologies (E.g. 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, A3, PDCA) and Gates Quality Management System requirements. Involvement in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, and Quality Control Plan development and implementation to reduce and eliminate nonconformance risks. Assigning and guiding quality resources to work with new product development process utilizing APQP-based management systems to achieve Gates objectives in sales growth and product vitality, while eliminating or reducing the risk of defect escape Maintaining an effective PPAP submission process, where required, that ensures timely and accurate part qualification for customers, or as part of the incoming part qualification. Assisting in the planning of the internal quality audit process including the Layered Process Audit (LPA) program. Supporting the development of Gates supplier quality by assigning resources to complete supplier assessments, nonconformance corrections, incoming inspection development, and/or supplier development project execution.
