FANUC America Corporation R&D Technical Writer in Rochester Hills, Michigan

We are currently searching for a Technical Writer responsible for the coordination and distribution of engineering documents and information supporting FANUC robot products and software. In this role, you will help to qualify and release final software products for nationwide distribution. You will get to work closely with our Research and Development teams to describe and document exciting new and existing products. You will also become skilled all-around in the document validation of FANUC’s major products (robots, system controls, ROBOGUIDE, etc.). Primary responsibilities will include

  • Organize, productize, release, and distribute product information used by internal and external FANUC customers

  • Perform editorial review of materials developed by others

  • Use department-standard tools and procedures to write, revise, validate and produce documents and illustrations

  • Estimate project scope and develop, maintain, and adhere to project schedules

  • Pursue innovative ideas in the generation and delivery of product information for FANUC customers and internal users

  • Ensure compliance to FAC’s Quality system and actively participate in the Continuous Improvement Process

  • Communicate project-related status or issues on product information and new products, working with FANUC, Japan, marketing, segment, and sales divisions, as necessary

  • Dynamic environment requiring ability to adapt to evolving concepts and workload Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education

  • B.S. or B.A. in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or related fields; or related work experience

  • Experience with computer publishing systems and related authoring and illustration tools as well as content management systems (Oxygen XML, XDOCS, Adobe Illustrator, SolidEDGE, SolidWorks, etc.)

  • Good critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify the issue, design, develop, and implement solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness

  • Demonstrated experience with multi-functional organizational collaboration Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of technical writing experience

  • Knowledge of FANUC robot products and systems or those of equivalent complexity from other industries or competitors
