International EV Scheduled Features Systems Engineer – Feature Owner in Rochester Hills, Michigan
Position Overview
International is seeking a EV Scheduled Features Systems Engineer – Feature Owner for its EV programs and long term vehicle strategy. A system feature owner is the single point technical expert on their assigned feature and is responsible for the development of controls requirements, supplier and partner engagement, cascade to communications and software teams, verification of feature functionality, development of calibration “books” with the controls team, and responsible for resolving related issues during bench and vehicle level development, validation, and production.
Responsibilities
Work with other International engineers to design, implement and validate EV-related scheduled vehicle features including but not limited to Scheduled Charging, Scheduled Departure, Fleet Manager information transfer, Data Analytics, and all other remote-enabled features using International’s On Command Communication (OCC) environment and infrastructure
Implement remote thermal, charging and energy management features with their EV domain feature owner colleagues and optimize remote data interfaces to provide fleet managers with the ability to monitor and control their fleets using a cloud-based systems
Develop system requirements and negotiate with and cascade to internal International OCC and component teams using a requirements management tool.
Execute validation, system management, FMEA, and diagnostic requirements for the scheduled features
Work with suppliers to “inhale” their functionality and develop, implement, and validate comprehensive stateflow-like requirements showing all controlled and simulated component’s loads and/or supply considering all driving, charging and “edge” use cases.
Work with component and OCC controls and software teams on feature implementation, resolving requirement or implementation issues on an electrical buck or related test property.
Serve as the interface from the ePowertrain team to other International interfaces and Traton partners to optimize implementation for International-branded vehicles.
Compare ideal implementation to minimum viable product and develop trade-offs and release cadence with improved functionality over a phased program.
Work with calibration and controls team to develop calibratable variables that can modify the behavior of the feature during vehicle developmental activities
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies
At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
BSEE, BSME, or BS in any software-related discipline, MS preferred.
Experience working for or in a controls environment.
Demonstrated expert on vehicle level scheduled vehicle features.
Deep thinking hands-on contributor of technical solutions
High natural curiosity that seeks and retains deep domain knowledge, system performance, and optimization across all vehicle functions and customer expectations
Motivated problem solver with demonstrable examples of analyzing complex compromises at the vehicle level.
Deep experience with technical feature experts and peers and team environments
Should have at least 4 years of experience on production electric vehicle architectural concepts with an emphasis on the assigned feature.
Vehicle launch experience.
Must have experience with the following tools:
CanAlyzer with demonstrable experience writing CAPL scripts
INCA or equivalent controller calibration tool(s)
Systems requirement tools such as Doors, Polarion, etc.
Simulink as an embedded coding solution for production electronic controllers
