Jackson General Hospital Part Time Radiology OR CT Technician in Ripley, West Virginia

Operate radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray films as directed by physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.

Performs imaging / therapeutic services and associated patient care with support the Radiology Department mission to provide diagnostic information for the subsequent treatment of patients at WVU Medicine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Graduate from an approved and accredited school of Radiological Technology 2. State of West Virginia License

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE: 1. Two years of radiology tech experience

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.   1. Takes X-ray images of specified body areas/parts as ordered, following established procedures
  2. Prepares patient and adjust equipment for taking X-rays. Positions and instructs patient regarding procedures. Administers contrast media when ordered with the approval of the medial staff
  3. Provides appropriate care utilizing knowledge and skill according to the age of the patient neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric
  4. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures
  5. Takes X-ray images in other areas of the hospital with portable equipment. Transports equipment to areas such as operating room, emergency room, and patient room
  6. Processes films and prepares them for reading by Radiologist according to darkroom procedures
  7. Transports X-ray patients
  8. Performs all office procedures related to Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, and Nuclear Medicine
  9. Maintains required department records (patient/other), reports and files. Files all reports and folders
  10. Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Maintains supply levels.
  11. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, conference, workshops, etc.
  12. May perform duties of Ultrasound Technologist and CAT Scan Technologist
  13. Processes CT images with the laser imager
  14. Copies images from microfilm with the micro filmer
  15. Transmits images to Radiologist homes
  16. May perform bone density testing
