We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sstudent body as aLecturerofMusicbeginning in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The applicant will teach a wide range of music technology courses which may include Intro to Music Technology, Real-Time Computer Music, Sound Design and Film, Intro to MIDI Systems, New Music Ensemble, and Applied Projects/Lessons.

Minimum Qualifications
A completed master’s degree in music technology, composition, or closely related area. Experience teaching music technology courses at the college level with a specialty in sound design and real-time computer music.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Thorough working knowledge of MAX , Ableton Live, Logic, and current DAW and notation software. Experience with Supercollider, or similar software, is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
A completed doctorate in music. The preferred candidate will be active in music technology, have experience directing a new music ensemble, and be comfortable teaching additional courses when needed such as Applied Composition, Counterpoint, and Contemporary Techniques.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
