Raw Material Planner- North America – Tyvek® business

The DuPont Water & Protection business unit (W&P) is focused on protecting lives, protecting critical processes, and protecting the environment and buildings. The segment serves customers in markets which include construction, transportation, communications, industrial chemicals, oil and gas, electric utilities, automotive, manufacturing, defense, security, and safety consulting. The W&P business produces some of the best known product lines in DuPont such as Kevlar®, Nomex®, Tyvek® and Corian®.

The Raw Material Planner is accountable for creating detailed weekly material requirements for the Tyvek manufacturing lines within the scope of raw ingredients supply chains, to meet demand requirements from the asset/master schedule. They work closely with the Sourcing Manager, Essential Materials Clerk, Operations personnel, Technical and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability is in accordance with production requirements. They are responsible for continuous improvement of the material planning process to meet the evolving service needs of the business.

The position is located at the Spruance DuPont plant, alongside the Essential Materials Clerk and Tyvek®/Typar® Americas Supply Chain Manager.

Key Activities

The Raw Material Planner is Accountable for the formal planning and execution of all tactical level processes required to secure and manage raw materials, packaging materials, and semi-finished materials, based on a forward lookng production plan. This includes scheduling and managing delivery, storage, staging, and movement of materials. Responsible to create and maintain valid plans for the acquisition of parts and materials. “Valid plans” are plans for which the materials are needed and for which the resources are available to provide those materials.

  • Create, validate and maintain a valid materials plan based upon the Master Production Schedule.

  • Ensure the right materials are procured at the right time, quality and quantity to minimize production and storage costs, based on the material plan.

  • Develop and provide expected demand for ingredients and packaging materials to suppliers on regular basis. Obtain supply capability confirmation.

  • Schedule and manage the execution of material deliveries against existing contracts or purchase orders.

  • Assess and respond to expected raw material storage and distribution capacity requirements based upon supplier lead times.

  • Lead resolution of short-term supply/demand imbalances for ingredients and packaging materials.

  • Identify and initiate response to raw material service/quality complaints from manufacturing. Initiate return material process involving QA and Sourcing.

  • Participate in and provide data for evaluation of supplier service performance and work with sourcing and suppliers to improve performance.

  • Execute the plans for non-productive raw materials for disposition. Manage health of raw materials and packaging materials.

  • Plan movement of sourced/in-process product from a stocking location to a specific point of use location.

  • Manage levels, replenishment models, product mixes and stocking locations for in-process product.

  • Participates in daily/weekly planning meetings and represents material plans as appropriate

  • Communicates with manufacturing, plant technical, purchasing, and master scheduling personnel regarding supply problems and their resolutions.

  • Utilize the system(s) of record to plan and execute raw material and semi-finished procurement and identify issues where appropriate.

  • Leads the continuous improvement of the material planning process

  • Maintain accurate raw material and supplier master data including planning parameters such as order quantities or lot sizes, lead times and safety stocks.

  • Identify inaccurate raw material inventory records and initiate actions to address.

Education Requirements/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience of 3+ years in supply chain related role

  • APICS CPIM certification preferred - can obtain on the job.

  • 3+ years relevant work experience, preferably within a supply chain role and demonstrated capability in planning and organizing skills

  • Work experience and/or demonstrated capability in planning and organizational skills. Familiarity with product and processes.

  • Six sigma green belt preferred

  • SAP/APO/BW experience preferred
