As a Senior Engineer on the Systems Integration team, you will be part of an exciting team, providing key contributions that enable our customers and associates to have a world class car buying experience. About the position

We are seeking a senior software engineer who will be part of a team focused on building robust, enterprise level capabilities and solutions. Prior experience with integration technologies and practices as well as business acumen, are essential for success. Your Consumer Supply environment experience coupled with expertise around API’s, services, and cloud-based technologies, will help craft innovative solutions to meet our business goals. The applications you create will bridge classic systems with transformational on-premise and cloud-based software solutions throughout the CarMax ecosystem. As a senior engineer, you will work side by side with other engineers and product teams, designing, building, and implementing integrations and applications.

What you will do – Essential responsibilities

  • Design and Develop integrations and applications using a variety of technologies. Technologies include .NET (C#), cloud-based PaaS, third party solutions, API gateways, enterprise service bus and messaging middleware platforms.

  • Develop Azure cloud solutions using services, functions, and other key cloud platform components.

  • Implement continuous integration and DevOps practices, including automated testing.

  • Develop robust monitoring and alerting.

  • Leverage a variety of technologies to provide solutions to business needs.

  • Create technical and support artifacts for applications and integrations.

  • Participate in after-hours on-call support rotation as the support expert for team owned platforms and applications.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5+ years of full stack application development experience required.

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Microsoft .NET (C#) required - .NET Core 2.x+ experience.

  • Microsoft Azure (Azure Functions, Service Bus, CosmosDB, etc.) or similar cloud technologies required.

  • Experience with API design and development required.

  • Knowledge and passion towards the App tier/Service layer methodologies required.

  • Experience integrating cloud-based technologies and solutions required.

  • Experiencing scripting Infrastructure as code in a CI/CD pipeline

  • Prior experience working with version control systems (SVN, GitHub, etc.), build management and CI/CD tools (TeamCity, Jenkins, etc.), and monitoring tools.

  • REST APIs, and JSON required.

  • Knowledge of JSON and XML concepts, frameworks, and standards, required.

  • Experience implementing end point security utilizing industry stands and best practices.

  • Strong teamwork skills, ability to learn quickly, excellent written and spoken communication required.

  • 5+ years of technology experience in a business environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of API Gateway technologies, preferred.

  • Experience working with Agile and DevOps methodologies preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases, SQL and NoSQL knowledge and experience preferred.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA CarMax Technology Innovation Center or the Dallas, TX Technology Hub and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
