VSC Fire and Security, a leading fire protection and life safety system contractor, is seeking qualified candidates for the position ofSenior Systems Engineer for our Corporate Headquarters located in ourAshland, Virginia.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior System Engineer's role is to ensure the streamlined operation of all IT resources in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The Senior System Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Team to design and implement IT-related systems for the organization, as well as administration and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The Senior System Engineer will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The Senior System Engineer will also assist in defining and implementing IT policies, procedures and best practices.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and Office Automation equipment.
• Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
• Provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
• Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
• Keep current with the latest technologies.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service provision.
• Practice asset management for IT hardware, software and equipment.
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent IT activities

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• 4-year college degree

Experience:

• 8+ years of total IT experience including computer operations management, multiple roles in systems implementation, supervision of technical personnel, architecture, security/compliance, business-wide strategic planning and budgetary responsibility.
• Verifiable track record of effective technical leadership which includes strong strategic thinking and successful project execution with technical and business resources.
• Ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization.

Technical Skills / Technical Environment:

• Experience with multiple software implementation methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.
• Experience in a Microsoft environment, Active Directory, GPO, Server 2012R2 and newer.
• Experience with VMWare and Veeam environments.
• Experience with PowerShell and other automation/scripting technologies.
• Experience with Web-based technologies, such as PHP and Javascript, is a plus.
