GE Vernova Project Engineer – Power Plant Equipment Repairs in Richmond, Virginia

Job Description Summary

The Project Engineer will manage Gas Turbine Stationary and Rotating Component repair projects within the Service Factory. They will lead each project through its repair life cycle from its planning stages to final reporting in a Project Manager and Technical Leader capacity. This position works closely with sales teams, design engineering, internal and external customers, and workshop operations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to project team including design engineering, supply chain representative, and assigned workshop team members

  • Manage scope of work, schedule, budget, and resources to achieve on-time delivery and target gross margin

  • Ensure technical work packages are proper and complete for execution

  • Pro-actively take measures to avoid or prevent events that might adversely impact project schedule or budget

  • Maintain an accurate forecast of revenue and cost throughout entire project

  • Provide repair solutions for incoming findings on components using engineering documentation

  • Act as liaison between supply chain representative and vendors to ensure required materials and services are delivered on time to support project schedule

  • Act as first source of escalation for technical guidance to address concerns

  • Maintain effective communication between commercial stakeholders, solutions experts, and workshop team

  • Understand and assume post sale responsibilities for all commercial aspects of assigned projects include proposal, cost estimates, and purchase order or contract

  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including establishment of budget, procurement of material, planning, scheduling, and execution

  • Responsible for making sure employee safety and quality are the top priorities while executing project deliverables

  • Use technical knowledge, experience, and analytical thinking

  • Use some level of judgment and have ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED / Equivalent with 4 years of professional experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering role

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading projects

  • Ability and willingness to work additional hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug testing

  • This position is required to work onsite in our Richmond Service Center 100%

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in a repairs facility

  • Experience in managing complex technical projects

  • PMP Certification (Project Management Professional)

  • Current or previous manufacturing experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

  • Ability to document, plan, and execute repair plans

  • Ability to create, review, and approve Work Instructions

  • Experience reading blueprints, procedures and specifications

  • Understanding project planning, working with shop schedules

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work with sales, engineering, supply chain, shop floor and customers

  • Customer oriented, both internally and externally

  • Computer-literate and competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project

  • Experience in rotating power generation equipment and power plants

  • Basic knowledge of finances and experience managing budgets

  • Ability to work effectively at multiple levels within the organization

  • Ability to influence and lead project team

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $90,400-120,500. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on April 12, 2024, or thereafter.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
