Emerson Principal Event Specialist in Richmond, Virginia

If you are a marketing professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson is looking for a Principal Event Specialist to join our Test & Measurement team.

As a senior event marketing professional, you will work closely with our global marketing functions, R&D teams, partners, and sales contacts to deliver on event plans and strategies. Collaborate with the events team, internal collaborators, event execution agencies, and third-party vendors to build impactful events that generate memorable experiences for attendees.

You will also play a crucial role in fostering a collaborative and positive team environment, contributing to our organization's culture of growth and innovation.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement tradeshows, company hosted, and virtual events. Understand key drivers of event success across digital, in-person, and hybrid mediums, including broadcast experiences.

  • Creative Event Activation: Enhance event activations creatively, optimizing experiences from initial contact through onsite/online and post-event phases.

  • Consensus Building: Develop a unified vision, strategy, messaging, and execution of event plans to drive business outcomes.

  • Event Execution & Promotion: Accountable for event execution, working with internal media teams on promotional plans, and ensuring all event design elements are on brand, including marketing, sales, employee communications, website, mobile app, and promotional items.

  • Project Management: Maintain effective project management for strategic events, handling executive leadership presentations, and navigating stressful situations calmly and positively.

  • Agency & Stakeholder Collaboration: Oversee event agency execution and collaborate with all relevant parties and individuals on timelines and expectations for virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.

  • Data Analysis & Insight: Analyze data to optimize event marketing investments and align event strategy with campaign and business objectives.

  • Global Coordination: Work to accommodate early morning or evening meetings based on project needs.

Who You Are:

You are an innovator with a knack for creating innovative and unforgettable experiences for our event attendees, both in-person and virtually, driving demand and fueling the sales pipeline. Your strategic and independent approach enables you to effectively collaborate with executives and internal team members, build consensus, and deliver results.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • A bachelor's degree in technical, business, or communications fields, or relevant experience is preferred.

  • 8-10+ years of experience in corporate event management and experiential marketing, especially in the B2B and enterprise technology sectors.

  • Proficiency in English, with excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel (over 30%), including international travel as required, with potential fluctuations based on business needs.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Salesforce.com, ON24, Microsoft Teams Webinar, and Live Events.

  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) certification is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Proven experience in planning, managing, and driving global events for a large-scale multinational audience.

  • Expertise in managing various event formats, from exclusive closed-door executive gatherings to large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and webinars.

  • Proficient in using the latest event technologies, including streaming platforms, registration and participant management systems, agenda management tools, event promotion tools, mobile apps, project and resource management tools, and live event engagement tools (polls, Q&As, etc.).

  • Skilled in managing timelines and budgets effectively.

  • Experience in creating or managing integrated sponsorship programs.

  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally, managing multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Capability to assess and prioritize workloads in strict, time sensitive environments.

  • Demonstrates leadership skills, including leading teams and driving initiatives across various groups.

  • Commands respect and leads project partners and contributors at all levels with credibility.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $90,600 - $115,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
