The Labor Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that labor resources are scheduled to execute the weekly production plan including all departments; end to end in the facility. The labor schedule is developed consistent with the skills and abilities of the people, budgeted labor standards, and contractual obligations. This role works closely with all departments to develop the labor schedule and is a member of the Education and Training Pillar as part of the IL6S journey. The individual acts as a site expert on their shift relative to the labor scheduling system, Indeavor. This position will report to the Master Scheduler and there will be one Labor Scheduler on each shift with the responsibility to assign all core team members on their shift their weekly work assignments.

Essential Job Functions :

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensure that labor is properly scheduled to meet the production and non-production requirements of the facility.

  • Execute the weekly and weekend labor schedules for core team members in all departments including production, sanitation, warehouse, DC, and maintenance.

  • Ensure the timely execution of all tasks consistent with agreements in the Union Contract.

  • Lead labor-management activities on the shift and act as a single point of contact.

  • Develop the daily and weekly schedule in cooperation with the operating departments; ensure all positions are covered; apply ST and OT rules as required.

  • Work closely with the Master Scheduler on short-term and long-term labor projections and identify key labor needs in the shift.

  • Work closely with the Master Scheduler and HR to post for specific labor needs by classification.

  • Work closely with the E&T Pillar to ensure the right skills exist on the shift to execute the production schedule and non-production activities.

  • Act like an owner relative to the impact labor has on the facility as it relates to variance to standard and inefficiency due to gaps in skills.

  • Establish, document & ensure training of ongoing & new procedures.

  • Act as site expert for Indeavor and Kronos and deliver targeted results through proper transaction execution.

  • Communicate effectively both internally and externally and up and down through the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Supply Chain Management, Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred)

  • Minimum 3 years in a Manufacturing or Logistics role

  • Excellent Leadership, Interpersonal, and Analytical skills

  • Strong Computer (MS Office) and Communication Skills (Oral and Written)

Additional Qualifications (Preferred) :

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced unionized manufacturing environment.

  • Prior operations experience – production responsibility.

  • Experience with labor scheduling systems and methodologies is preferred.

  • Prior experience with Continuous Improvement efforts.
