EnerSys is seeking an entry-level Design Engineer for our Motive Power Applications Engineering Department. The Design Engineer responsible for battery design and engineering analyses on batteries. The selected engineer will work with other members of the engineering department to create design solutions that meet customer requirements and company objectives. Responsible for ensuring that product designs are fit for purpose.
- Drafting knowledge using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Creating BOM's and Materials in BaaN, SAP, and Windchill.
- Creating and Publishing internal Work Instructions and Process Specifications.
- Supporting projects for product development and product improvement.
- Collaborating with designers, engineers, and technicians.
- Assisting in the gathering, organization, and analysis of data relating to engineering sponsored projects throughout the Americas; this may include traveling to our EnerSys facilities to coordinate prototype builds, new product/process introduction, special testing, assembly trials, and material or process evaluation.
- Providing technical assistance on an as-needed basis to Management, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Service, Purchasing, Quality, and other members of the Engineering Team on special projects as they develop through the normal course of business
- Support OEM Specs maintenance with design data validation.
- Assisting Sales with conceptual designs for unique applications.
- Other functions and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree and equivalent of 2 years in related Engineering position.
- At least 2 years' experience with Solidworks.
- Mechanical/hands on experience
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 10%
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to differentiate colors.
- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
- Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
