Job responsibilities
Complete all work within the guidelines and Air Lateral/OPS requirements.
First priority of this job function is the handling and expediting of "live shipments"
Tracing and tracking of inbound freight from overseas pre-alerts to tracing with the airlines
Clerical responsibilities: logging pre-alerts, entering client numbers and making folders, filing
Enter event codes as trained and outlined in the Air Lateral/OPS manual.
Follow customer SOP.
Communications:
Respond to E-mails in a timely manner. If an e-mail needs more research or time, then must send a message to the sender keeping them updated.
Overseas (origin) must be kept up-to-date on the status of shipments
Pickup phone calls within the department.
Scan all documents into the system as required.
It is the Air Import Agent's responsibility to advise and discuss with the supervisor if any part of the above responsibilities cannot be completed.
Report Function Responsibilities
Daily review of the Breakbulk and Electronically Logged Reports
If for any reason, whatsoever, this cannot be done as stipulated above, the import agent is to notify their supervisor immediately as this will affect the weekly Air Lateral quality results.
Accounting
Closing and settling shipments according to Air Lateral/OPS manual
Bill customer timely according to Air Lateral/OPS manual
Correct EDI and billing errors based on daily/monthly reporting tools provided.
University Degree or Industry Specific Diploma
1-2 years of experience in the industry is ideal
Computer savvy
Customer service experience is a plus
