Job Responsibilities/Duties

Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. WRPS seeks an Operations Specialists (Person in Charge/PIC). The PIC will have responsibilities for operations activities in support of the Retrieval Operations organization. This position will provide leadership and oversight of operational activities by creating and maintaining a total quality and safe climate that encourages the commitment of all personnel to meet and/or exceed customer needs.

The specific duties and responsibilities of the Operations Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Plan/execute complex project and field activities with a demonstrated record of successful schedule execution with an integrated project team;

  • Ensure work documents and packages are technically correct and capable of being performed safely and efficiently;

  • Resolve work and safety issues to permit safe and efficient performance of work in the field;

  • Provide status and communicate work scope at Plan of the Day, Plan of the Week, and other status/planning meetings. Resolve resource and schedule issues;

  • Provide input to engineering and other organizations for improvement initiatives.

  • Direct and control work in a manner that is consistent with the current boundaries of the Authorization Basis ensuring a balance of matrixed personnel, craft skills, work site supervision and documentation;

  • Perform Person In Charge (PIC) duties to support Retrieval Operations activities;

  • Set expectations during pre-job briefings to ensure all WRPS procedures and policies are being followed;

  • Maintain communication with management, DOE, and stakeholders;

  • Coordinate the planning and preparation of daily field activities;

  • Coordinate and run morning meeting with represented personnel;

  • Develop and execute daily job assignments;

  • Attend daily/weekly organizational meeting;

  • Assist in the training;

  • Verify Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles are being implemented;

  • Perform pre-job briefings and oversee execution of field work activities;

  • Perform Corrective Action resolution; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Grade 19:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Construction Management or related field; and

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Grade 20:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Construction Management or related field; and

  • Ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Grade 21:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Construction Management or related field; and

  • Twelve (12) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.

Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management Institute PMP Certified.

  • EVMS Control Account Manager qualification.

  • Experience managing small, medium, and large Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), capital improvement, or facility/infrastructure upgrade construction projects from initiation through closeout in accordance with quality standards and requirements.

  • Experience with bargaining unit personnel and collective bargaining agreements is desirable.

  • Retrieval Operations Experience

  • Nuclear Operations Experience

Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.

Hiring Range Minimum: $114,475

Hiring Range Maximum: $174,900
