Benton Franklin Head Start Maintenance Technician in Richland, Washington

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician Position is regular, full-time, 40 hrs. per week DESCRIPTION: Responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings and playgrounds on a regular scheduled basis. Maintain safe conditions in all facilities and/or workspaces housing Head Start,Early Head Start, and ECEAP children and staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Performs preventative maintenance duties. • Repair, replace, and install a wide range of minor electrical and plumbing components, and other related maintenance activities where a professional license is not required. • Maintain facilities by performing minor and routine painting. • Assists with the remodeling of buildings. • Lift and move furniture within and between buildings as requested by the supervisor. • Pick up and deliver supplies or other items. • Provide services requiring light carpentry skills. • Schedules projects and work arrangements to provide minimum interference with the Agency's operational duties. • Help with vehicle maintenance. • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required i.e clogged toilets, failed alarms, detached furniture, etc. • Clean heat registers and air conditioner vents and coils. Replace air conditioner filters when necessary. • Ensure water temperatures are properly maintained. • Complete 30 second emergency lighting test. • Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures. Maintain work order spreadsheet, prioritize, print, and respond to work order requests. Turn in completed work orders to the supervisor and log as complete onthe spreadsheet. • Maintains inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment. • Assess the safety condition of all playground equipment and mulch used by Benton Franklin Head Start children according to the Safety Checklist. Any critical safety concern is to be repaired or removed immediately. Make immediate corrections to unsafe conditions when possible. Report unsafe conditions needing further attention to the Supervisor for action. • Power washing of buildings, walkways, floors, playground equipment, etc. as needed. • Report safety, sanitation, and fire hazard conditions to Supervisor. • Rake and measure bark on a monthly basis. • Perform outdoor custodial duties such as site cleanup and snow removal as required. • Spot clean carpets as needed. • May obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts. • Maintains maintenance supplies (screws, anchors, zip ties, etc) • Attend safety meetings, professional development and training when requested. • Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with Agency staff and the public. • Responsible for maximizing and documentation of in-kind contributions. • Ability to drive, including travel to multiple sites. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • High School Diploma/ General Education Degree (GED) • Three years of general building maintenance experience including light plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical skills; or substituting any equivalent combination of related experience and demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance and relevant training from a vocational training organization; physical strength and agility required by the position. • Knowledge of local health/safety regulations, ADA, OSHA required and commit to complete the OSHA 10-hour construction training course on workplace safety. • Knowledge of equipment operations, tools, and terms used in building maintenance work. • Experience in playground safety preferred or commit to complete a playground safety training course.
