Job Description Summary Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing, or wrapping containers. Job Description Individuals in this position must: * Follow all plant safety policies and procedures. Be actively involved in safety, participate in safety programs, engaged in safety activities, perform risk assessments and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members. * Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. * Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor. * Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product containers. * Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications. * Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged product. * Replenishes packaging supplies such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet (poly-roll), boxes, cartons, glue, or ink. * Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hopper or other feeding devices. * Maintain good housekeeping in work area * Participation in AMD * Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Basic & Preferred Qualifications Qualifications & Experience The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job. To successfully perform this job an individual must: * Must be sanitation qualified. * Lock-out/Tag-out qualification is required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained * Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques * Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed * Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook * Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures * Possess a working knowledge of how the equipment works * Must be able to balance teamwork and individual responsibilities Education High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Language Skills Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English.
