These technologies will be used for multiple platforms including the future Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC).

As our next Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you’ll immerse yourself in leading teams through the intricacies of developing system models, designs, and validating multiple domain Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) mission systems solutions.

As a member of Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE), we will provide the training and tools to help grow the skills you will need to become a subject matter expert (SME) in the systems engineering lifecycle. What YOU Will Do:

  • You will be responsible for an Agile VLF receiver project spanning the entire development lifecycle.

  • You will be responsible for providing technical guidance to multi-disciplined teams, leading effective working sessions and trade studies, cultivating and reinforcing group values, and identifying, analyzing and correcting technical problems.

  • You will serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for VLF equipment packages/solutions.

  • You will lead system integration and troubleshooting for complex embedded software applications, hardware, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), and system of systems environments.

  • You will lead engineering teams to understand, analyze, and develop the models, requirements, and designs using enterprise standard tools, processes, and industry best practices.

  • You will ensure the development and management of technical risks & opportunities and develop and execute mitigation plans.

  • You will serve as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) to monitor cost and schedule and reporting project status to program management and engineering leadership using Earned Value Management.

  • You will apply SysML concepts for System Modeling across a full engineering lifecycle.

  • You will gain a better understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) for black box integration.

  • You will learn to apply Collins Aerospace Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to cutting edge solution for emerging technologies.

  • You will learn how to work in an Agile environment and collaborate across engineering disciplines and management teams.

  • You will learn techniques on how to lead technical proposals and utilize SEER parametric estimation tools.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Prior experience with applying Systems Engineering principles to development programs.

  • Experience with radio communication systems such as VLF, UHF, VHF, Satcom, or related.

Qualification We Prefer:

  • Experience with MBSE concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.

  • Experience or exposure to other related disciplines such as human factors, system safety, reliability & maintainability, and cybersecurity.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with SW, Integration and Verification teams.

  • Technical risk & opportunity management, interface definition and control.

  • Experience with bidding utilizing SEER parametric estimation tools.

  • Open Mission Systems (OMS) version 2.1 or higher architecture experience.

  • Experience with various communication and networking protocols: MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 661 standard and bus protocols, and TCP/IP network applications.

  • Experience or exposure to leading team with applications such as Microsoft Project, Confluence/JIRA.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
