Description Job Title: Payroll Specialist Job Description: We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for full cycle payroll processing for approximately 2,000 employees across must be eligible to work in the U.S. and Canada. This role also encompasses payroll reconciliation tasks and related financial activities. The Payroll Specialist will report directly to the Finance Director. Responsibilities: Administer the entire payroll process from start-to-finish for 2,000 employees across must be eligible to work in the U.S. and Canada. Perform all payroll-related functions, including payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and producing reports. Perform regular payroll reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner. Liaise with HR and Finance Departments to ensure accurate payroll data input and efficient payroll service delivery. Update payroll records, including tax withholding, benefits deductions, PTO, transfers, terminations etc. as necessary. Keep up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and make necessary changes in payroll system. Produce various reports for the Accounting and Finance team as needed. Enforce payroll-related policies and procedures to safeguard the organization’s compliance with legal obligations. Work arrangement: This is a hybrid role, requiring the candidate to work from the office for 3 days a week and from home for 2 days a week. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a payroll function, preferably within the mining or related industries. • Proficiency in using HRIS software for payroll processing. • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian Payroll regulations and procedures. • Experience with Multi-state Payroll, demonstrating a thorough understanding of varying state laws and regulations. • Expertise in managing full cycle payroll, from data collection to issuing payment. • Possession of the Certified Payroll Detail Oriented (CPP) certification is highly desirable. • Proficiency in using the Ceridian Payroll System, demonstrating the ability to manage, track, and process payroll efficiently. • Experience in managing domestic payroll operations, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. • Familiarity with HRIS Payroll System, demonstrating the ability to integrate HR and payroll data effectively. • Experience in handling international payroll, taking into consideration the complexities of foreign tax laws and currency conversions. • Proficiency in managing multistate payroll, showcasing the ability to understand and apply various state tax laws. • Knowledge of payroll garnishments, demonstrating the ability to manage and process wage garnishments according to law. • Experience in processing bi-weekly and biweekly payroll, demonstrating the ability to manage pay cycles effectively. • Proven ability to process payroll efficiently, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. • Experience in reconciling payroll, demonstrating the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data.
