Primary job responsibility will be to perform document checking functions and incorporating engineering changes for mechanical engineering drawings and specifications. The selected individual will be required to examine engineering drawings/models and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design; completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and practicability; and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.

What You Will Do

• Checking documentation of fabricated items, diagrams, Source Control Drawings (SCD’s) and assemblies to ensure conformance to design documentation for new documentation or revisions to existing documentation and data

• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards and design data supplied by engineering

• Review form, fit completeness and consistency of dimensioning of drawings

• Recommends changes to ensure compliance with standards, procedures and specifications

• Performing tolerance stack up analysis in support of form and fit of components to assembly

• Conferring with engineering to resolve drawing and design discrepancies

• Providing training to improve overall drafting quality and consistency

• Reviewing material requirements for standardization and conformance to industry specification manuals

• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

  Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required ​

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance ​

• Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting familiarity (NX, Creo, I-Deas, Solid Works, etc.)

• Proficiency with ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and understanding of ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices

• Proven capability to execute requirements of drawing and model checking

• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis

• Familiar with mechanical hardware manufacturing processes

  Qualifications We Prefer

• Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance Preferred on Day 1

• Understanding and familiarity of Collins Aerospace drafting standards as defined in the Product Definition Instruction and ASME Y14.41 Digital Product Definition Data Practices.

• NX experience

• Solidworks experience

• Understanding and familiarity of the Collins Aerospace Product Definition Instructions

• Understanding and familiarity with Collins Aerospace release levels

• Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) experience – Enovia 3D experience a plus

• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 83,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
