Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Inspection, monitoring of plant operations in terms of safety and environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Preparation of labels for waste and chemical materials.• Translation and capture of information from Material Safety Data Sheets in the database.• Teaching courses to contractors related to ISO 14001 and Contractor Safety.• Compilation of production information for the annual environmental report (COA) to the government as appropriate.• Collection of production information related to environmental aspects (ISO 14001)• Control of hazardous waste generation logs.• Preparation of visual aids for hazardous waste and special handling waste.• Preparation of environmental policy badges.• Monthly report on hazardous waste mixtures• Preparation of the monthly report of expired chemical material• Requirement of information from contractors for the contractor safety program.• Verification of the cleanliness of the grease traps.• Inspection and detection of unsafe conditions and acts in production areas and departments and support areas.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Technical degree in Environmental and Safety Engineering, Chemistry or similar

• 1 to 2 years in a similar position

• Experience in the manufacturing industry

Knowledge of Safety and Environmental legislation
