E3 Federal Solutions Director of Security in Reston, Virginia

Avantus Federal is currently looking for a Director of Security to support our growing team. As the Director of Security, we are looking for an individual to lead our Security Team, which is responsible for managing our security posture to include personnel clearance program and our secure facilities and systems, insider threat and SCIF. The Director of Security ensures compliance with security policies, regulations, and processes within a complex organization. As a member of the Avantus Federal team, you'll provide first-class knowledge and customer service to both leadership and employees who depend on the Security Team to help propel the business forward.

The Director of Security must possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and have strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented mindset. We are looking for a leader to build and execute important processes, then reimagine them to help us deliver outcomes to our customers faster while maintaining rigorous compliance with our customers' requirements. Demonstrated capability to think creatively and develop strategies and processes that maintain a strong security posture while enabling business outcomes is critical to this role.

Duties include:

  • Day-to-day management of compliance, personnel and physical security programs.

  • Facilitating mandatory USG reporting as it relates to personnel, facility, and insider threat programs.

  • Liaise directly with assigned DCSA IS Rep, other Government Security Agencies, and teaming partners to ensure full and timely compliance with government directives, regulations, and reporting.

  • Arbitrating policy and processes around personnel, clearances, and our facilities.

  • Operating and optimizing complex clearance application and reinvestigation pipelines in order to grow and maintain Avantus Federal’s cleared workforce at pace with our USG business.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and expert consultation to Avantus leadership team and employees.

  • Oversees security education, insider threat awareness, and training activities for facility management, personnel, and others, as appropriate.

  • Identifies and documents unique local threats & vulnerabilities; makes recommendation to risk management status and reports threat indicators into the Insider Threat Process

  • Ensures that periodic self-inspections of the NISP security program are conducted and that corrective action is taken for all identified findings and vulnerabilities.

  • Performs vulnerability assessments in preparation for both external assessments by DCSA and other Government Security Agencies

  • Develops, implements, and communicates security policy, procedures, and practices designed to protect classified and proprietary information, property, employees, and visitors.

  • Ensures that effective security programs and procedures designed to provide reasonable protection for assets are functioning without having an adverse effect on the company operations

  • Minimum of 8+ years directly related security administration experience.

  • Active Top Secret Clearance required.

  • In-depth understanding of security manuals, directives, and Executive Orders; to include, NISPOM and its amplifying directives (DCIDs, ICDs, Sponsor Instruction, etc.).

  • Knowledge of the personnel security process for personnel requiring Public Trust Fitness; Suitability; Secret and Top Secret Clearances; SCI access; and polygraphs.

  • Hands on experience with SCI personnel security processing.

  • Working knowledge of ICD 704 and E.O. 12968 guidelines

  • Experience with the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS); and the Questionnaire for Investigative Processing (eQIP); and Scattered Castles

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships.

  • Experience supporting business development and proposal process

  • Experience with DHS highly desired.

  • Experience with DSS audits preferred.

  • Experience working in companies supporting DoD and Intelligence Community clients.

  • SCI preferred.

  • Experience with JPAS, e-QIP, Scattered Castles, and SWFT preferred.
