Aerotek Pre Press Operator in Renton, Washington
Description: Pre Press Operator
Prepress operators are trained to turn a digital image into a printed page. Will take a digital image, retouch it as necessary, adjust the layout of the image on the document, and ensure the image and text are ready for printing. The final product will be part of a printed publication, such as books, newspapers, and product packaging. Most of the work done by a prepress operator is through computers and printing machinery. Similar job titles include electronic prepress operator and typesetter.
Day Shift | 4am-2pm Monday-Thursday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares, manipulates and corrects supplied electronic files for digital production and output, including trapping, impositions, editing and color corrections.
Laying out artwork, text and images according to a design plan
Using desktop publishing software, such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, to help lay out pages
Digitally scanning images and adding them to the page or document
Retouching color and ensuring overall accuracy of the document
Creating sample proofs and sending them to customers
Preparing and checking film or digital outputs
Getting the item ready for the printing process
Transferring images from film onto printing plates (known as platemaking), sometimes using computer controlled equipment.
Interprets job tickets instructions accurately so jobs are completed per customer’s requirements.
Helps develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for job related functions, processes, and/or recommend method efficiencies and process improvements.
Familiarity with current Prep & design software suites & workflows /Digital & plating
Conditions
You will probably work in an office, studio or print shop.
You will spend a lot of time working on a computer.
You may need to wear protective clothing to work with some types of equipment.
You will normally have to work to tight deadlines, so the work can be stressful.
You might work shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines.
