Providence St. Joseph Health Patient Financial Counselor - Credit and Collection in Renton, Washington

Description Patient Financial Counselor in CREDIT AND COLLECTION Unit at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Under general supervision, performs a wide range of duties and tasks related to the care, treatment and financial assistance of the patient. This position will be the primary point of contact for patient assistance and special projects. Provides administrative support to the healthcare team and patients; to include data abstraction, project identification and maintenance of required elements for grant support. This position will act, in coordination with Director and other outreach staff, as ambassador in the surrounding communities by educating and assisting the patient and community, at point of origin. Responsible for performing activities relating to patients assistance matters. This includes but is not limited to discussions on financial responsibility and collection of monies. Answer patient questions about typical medical billing procedures, help patients review their billing statements. Answer patient questions, gather information and fill out financial assistance forms for possible write-off of medical bills to charity care. Assists patients with support through community resources, Providence programs, free drug programs, obtaining copayments and down payments as indicated by insurance or policy. Performs all other duties assigned such as filing, keyboarding, answering telephone, etc. Providence caregivers are not simply valued - they're invaluable. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's Degree In a related field Financial and/or patient assistance experience. Experience in oncology. Why Join Providence?
