Description Mental Health Counselor Bachelors - Emergency Services, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital, Spokane WA The Mental Health Counselor (MHC) functions under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide direct care for selected patients. S/he is expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of contemporary psychosocial principles in relation to his/her area of responsibility while implementing the delegated tasks of the Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan of Care. Following orientation and defined training programs, satisfactorily performs skills as defined by departmental policy and orientation procedure. Implements selected unit and patient care activities in collaboration with other team members. Individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for preschoolers (3-5 years), school age (6-12 years) of adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) by applying age related concepts including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection and interpretation of data, treatments and care typically required and participating in the evaluation of care. Shift Details: Part time, 28 hours per week, 8 - hour evening shift Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, or education requirement may be waived in the case of an applicant demonstrating exceptional relevant clinical experience.
