Bureau of Land Management HR Specialist (Lead Processing) in Reno, Nevada

Responsibilities Provide technical advice and assistance on payroll, personnel, onboarding, hiring management and personnel record keeping systems. Research and analyze results to develop recommendations to customer reported issues. Identify appropriate method(s) for delivering training to include instructor-led classes, web-based training, and/or a blended approach. Provide advice on basic program policies, regulatory, requirements, and procedures. Interprets regulations, policies, and directives, and uses good judgment to provide accurate pay setting guidance. Recurring assignments include determining grade retention and/or pay retention eligibility for affected General Schedule (GS), and Wage Grade (WG) employees; determining payment of supervisory differentials and conducting pay step audits. I qualify for the GS-07 because: I have completed one (1) year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-05 level in the Federal service that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is further defined as: performing a variety of human resources functions, such as staffing and recruitment, employee on-boarding and orientation, processing a variety of human resources documents, and calculating pay and service computation dates OR I have completed 1 full year of graduate level education. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. I qualify for the GS-09 because: I have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is further defined as: reviewing a variety of human resources functions, employee on-boarding and orientation, processing a variety of human resources documents, and calculating pay and service computation dates to ensure technically sound and accurate. OR I have completed a master`s or equivalent graduate degree. I will provide a copy of my college transcripts OR I have two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. I will provide a copy of my college transcripts OR I have a combination of education and experience described above. I have described this information in my resume, and I will provide a copy of my college transcripts. This position is considered a career ladder opportunity, with a full performance level of GS-09. If selected at a lower grade level, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level at the discretion of your supervisor and is contingent upon meeting regulatory and legal requirements for promotion, satisfactory performance, and the availability of higher-level work. Physical Demands: Work performed is sedentary in nature. Work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings and to conduct HR work. Occasional travel may be required. The work does not require any special physical effort. Work Environment: Offices and meeting spaces are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The employee experiences everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. Education This position falls under the Human Resources Management Series 0201.
