Bandit Industries Buyer in Remus, Michigan
This position is responsible for being a knowledge expert in a commodity, like steel. Will be responsible for creating sourcing strategies that will control price, delivery, and payment and take the lead in discussions about sourcing decisions. Responsible for reviewing quotes and issuing purchase orders. Utilizes cross functional teams to continue to develop sourcing and purchasing strategies and align with the company's overall objectives.
Role and Responsibilities
- Team leader, responsible for mentoring junior buyers and purchasing agents
- Complete understanding of the manufacturing process, from beginning to end of the process.
- Purchasing expert in assigned subject matter
- Develop formal written strategies for sourcing and purchasing
- Lead person in sourcing decisions; optimize price, delivery and payment terms in line with purchasing strategy
- Identify local vendors that meet production standards to reduce lead times for necessary components.
- Negotiates purchasing contracts
- Collaborate with legal advisors to ensure efficient risk management in supply agreements
- Monitor and report on supplier performance and use that information as leverage during the negotiating process
- Responsible for coordinating with all appropriate departments to ensure compliance and limiting liability in line with overall strategy.
- Work with warehouse and production on 7S and other continuous improvement concepts.
- Navigate and become expert in ERP system and develop MRP program
- Develop, maintain, and publish documentation required by the applicable purchasing procedures.
- Work with Senior Buyer and Purchasing Manager to continuously review purchase strategies and adjust based on future needs of the company.
- Facilitate cross functional internal and external meetings.

Qualifications and Education Requirements Required
- BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
- 0-4 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Mentorship skills
- Financial analysis skills
- Solid judgment along with decision making skills
- Working experience of vendor management software
- Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
