Job Summary

Battelle is seeking Full Time Software Developer to support Army/Joint Program in Alexandria, VA/Ft. Belvoir, VA . Position is remote, and candidate must be able to obtain and hold a DoD Security Clearance. Candidate will be engaged in modernization of the web-enabled mission planning software platform called Joint Planning Services (JPS). JPS is transitioning from a COTS SitaWare HQs software platform to a cloud-based architecture utilizing modern frameworks and tools. This new platform will integrate with the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) framework. You will develop features and collaborative tools, contributing to a critical platform used for Joint, CCMD, and Service planning. Battelle is seeking highly experienced and capable software developers with knowledge, skills, and abilities to support the transition to the new platform

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and as a member of a multiple functional, dynamic team

  • Work closely with product managers to gather requirement and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Develop solutions to complex problems in creative and effective ways by analyzing existing programs and new systems.

  • Devises logic and coding for complex issues where analysis of situation or data require in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8+ yrs. experience. Professional training and certifications in relevant software development areas

  • Experience with building RESTful APIs and services

  • Experience working with containerization technologies (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)

  • Experience in developing and deploying Java EE applications

  • Proficiency in building and maintaining frontend applications using ReactJS

  • Experience with development tools (IntelliJ, VS Code)

  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases

  • Ability to write unit and integration tests to verify code functionality

  • Experience with version control systems (git)

  • Familiarity with code quality tools (e.g. SonarQube)

  • Ability to develop, test, document, and maintain code for deadline-driven projects

  • Ability to lead requirements-gathering process, provide user documentation, and comment code clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) Framework, specifically TAK Server and Web TAK

  • Experience working with distributed event environments with technologies such as Apache NiFi and Kafka.

  • Experience implementing mTLS authentication and OAuth Single-Sign-On services in a microservice environment.

Experience:

• Providing development support to both customer and 3rd party plugin developers.

• Familiarity working with continuous integration tools (e.g. Team City, GitLab Runner)

• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.

• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.

• Experience with Windows Server 2016 and newer.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent debug and problem-solving skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud-based (AWS or MS Azure) platform experience.
