Position Summary:

Job Profile Summary

The Sr. Technical Accounting Manager provides technical accounting research and consultation to management on significant, complex, non-routine transactions. The ideal candidate must perform thorough technical accounting research, make sound/strategic/subjective decisions and recommendations, effectively communicate technical accounting matters to non-technical personnel both verbally and in writing, and contribute to a strong professional team. Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures aligned with industry standards and regulations for the accounting team. Monitors and reviews financial data for quality assurance while conducting regular audits to identify trends, data integrity, and process and system improvements. Assists with the overall success of accounting close and all relevant reporting, including GAAP and statutory reporting.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performing technical accounting research and consultation of new, unusual or complex business transactions and structures and advising management on the appropriate accounting and external reporting treatment. Establishes processes to maintain documentation on such transactions.

  • Writing and documenting technical accounting and regulatory position papers.

  • Providing proactive value-added advice/consultation to management on the potential impact of current and proposed accounting standards.

  • Interfacing with the external auditors on accounting issues in support of the company’s reporting and disclosure positions.

  • Reviewing and documenting accounting policies and procedures in compliance with all accounting and reporting standards.

  • Monitoring and reporting on the current FASB, IASB, EITF, PCAOB, SEC, etc. activities.

  • Developing a plan for implementation of relevant accounting standards.

  • Maintaining a database of all final and proposed standards and pronouncements with relevance to the Company’s reporting needs.

  • Provides support and training to accounting team members before implementation of new standards, policies, and regulations.

  • Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting cycles to ensure efficient and accurate financial and regulatory filings.

  • Oversees the review of revenue contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition accounting.

  • Enhances and develops process and system improvements, as well as reporting tools.

  • Guides and owns cross-functional projects. Participates in cross-departmental projects and various Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting meetings in support of appropriate application of GAAP and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience, preferably with a large public accounting firm. CPA certification strongly preferred

  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office programs and Excel) with the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Expert skills in accounting processes, procedures, and controls

  • Highly skilled at collaborating and working with cross-functional departments to research and resolve issues

  • Excellent researching, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the proven ability to identify, develop, communicate, implement, and impact process improvements and strategic initiatives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Polished time-management and project management skills, including the ability to plan proactively, interpret complex processes/programs, develop realistic goals/metrics, resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion and ensure adherence to timelines

  • Distinguished ability to impact results, delegate clearly and effectively, and respond to changing demands/timelines

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in normal office working conditions.

The hiring range for this position is:

$113,800.00-$154,525.00
