Stellantis’s Software Organization (SWx) was established to build the most captivating experiences in the latest frontier of Automotive Technology.

Position Summary:

Head of Technical Operations drives cross functional technical activities across different solution teams within Connected Cockpit and Cloud group. The leader focuses on driving technical decision making for different solutions. The lead is expected to be a hands-on industry technical expert in the field of Vehicle Cockpit, Connectivity, Cloud and related technologies.

The leader will interface and represent our team in different solution groups. They will drive deep dive reviews and provide support in making technical decisions for the different solution leaders.

  • Leader will oversee all the activities of development across the following areas:

  • Technical Complexity Estimation

  • Support in scoping and estimating the technical complexity of different projects

  • Work in evaluating and challenging the proposals from suppliers and partners

  • Supporting different solution leaders to make technical decisions

  • Software and system benchmarking

  • Benchmarking detailed aspects of the characteristics associated with our products.

  • Deep technical focus up to the level of launches from competition, depth of the menu, response times, security vulnerabilities, etc.

  • Deep commercial focus up to the level of estimating the component level spend by different players in the industry.

  • Prepare Best Cost Analytics for our system.

  • Expanding the breadth by comparing automotive with consumer tech.

  • Build vs Buy decisions

  • Eliminate re-invention of the wheel with buy vs build decisions.

  • Active scanning of the market actively for complementary technologies

  • Make the best judgement of value creation vs risk in the decisions.

  • This includes hardware, software components and systems in the field of Cockpit and Connectivity.

  • Partnership management

  • Proactive manage the partnerships.

  • Continuously perform gap analysis for us to deliver to our group vision.

  • Evaluate partners needed for different solution groups

  • Run lessons learnt exercises for maximizing the win-win potential in partnerships.

  • Conduct methodical reviews in adding / removing partners.

  • Patent / IP creation

  • Proactively manage creating IP in the field of Cockpit and Connectivity.

  • Run harvesting sessions to be able to decide the concepts worth protecting.

  • Manage external IP and other exposures for our products.

  • Standards contribution

  • Create teams to contribute into the working groups of standards organization in the field of

  • Connectivity (e.g. 3GPP)

  • Automotive (e.g. 5GAA)

  • Security

  • Academic Connect

  • Develop academic connect to run advanced research projects in the academic forums.

  • Harvest new ideas and concepts from academic worlds and transition them into the industry.

Direct reports: 6 Overall team: 20 comprising of direct and indirect and external teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in building high technology products

  • 6+ years of people management experience

  • Willingness to learn SAFe Agile practices

  • Industry expertise in the Connectivity solution development in automotive or consumer space

  • A strong record of accomplishment of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills while working in multi-site environment

  • Very good understanding of engineering processes, especially requirements engineering and development processes

  • Strong networking capabilities across Business Units in a multinational environment

  • Excellent leadership skills
