Job Description
The EHS Environmental Lead will lead the development and implementation of the GE Vernova Environmental compliance programs, goals, and other factors; streamlining procedures and processes while improving program effectiveness and increasing collaboration and synergy with procurement and external contractors. They must be able to partner effectively with Company leaders and Business Unit (BU) EHS Leaders, across GE Vernova, to manage expectations and to align on strategy and governance control to best prioritize environmental initiatives in alignment with BUs based on risk to ensure focused execution.
This EHS Environmental Lead will report to the EHS Compliance Leader and will work to safeguard GE Vernova in accordance with legal requirements and company objectives. This role will work closely with other members of the GE Vernova EHS and Sustainability teams in support of various initiatives. This role will also cover Environmental Compliance processes including Permit Review process, Waste Site Audit program, and support data governance for Pollution, Waste and Water reporting requirements across GE Vernova. As the Environmental Lead, you will provide oversight of corporate and business level environmental management programs, policies, procedures, and processes in support of the company’s strategic objectives
Essential Responsibilities:
Review and assess the businesses performance against the requisite standard, reporting on findings and driving improvement opportunities
Develop GE Vernova level Environmental Management System including applicable procedures and guidance. Support implementation across business units.
Provide direction and support for Environmental Compliance programs including assessment of environmental risk, impacts from operational changes, and the permit review process
Establish process for Environmental risk assessment and mitigation provide expertise to business units.
Manage Waste Site audit program including training
Data governance for key metrics including pollution, waste and water in collaboration with sustainability team.
Supporting business compliance with all applicable environmental and permitting requirements during development, construction, operations, and decommissioning.
Responsible for ensuring the creation and maintaining a Register of Environmental Legislation of all applicable environmental regulations and for providing strategic advice to business teams on risk mitigation
Manage environmental risk assessments through the due diligence and audit process for existing facilities and potential new development project sites
Provide environmental technical advice when required to accurately interpret regulatory rules for compliance
Manage relationships between partners, suppliers, government bodies, contractors and communities regarding environmental matters
Serve as SME to support BU root cause analysis investigations of environmental events as needed
Perform other duties as directed
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge or experience in engineering or another relevant technical / business field required.
Senior professional with significant experience in large, regulated, high hazard industrial companies, where there is field-based work.
Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills
Knowledge of Sustainability disclosure and reporting regulations and frameworks
Experience in mentoring and providing training on EHS or to the EHS team
Extensive experience with accident/incident investigations
Strong knowledge of EHS issues and regulatory framework both health and safety and environmental including air and water permitting and waste compliance
Experience in development and implementation of environmental compliance strategies and processes
Desired Characteristics:
Experience with developing and delivery of training
Experience with front line EHS management
Experience in Quality or Lean Management
Demonstrated team building and engagement with staff, customers, consultants and contractors
Experience working in or providing services to the Energy Industry
Strong analytic skills, ability to analyze complex data sets
If contracted in the U.S. the following apply:
The base pay range for this position is 147,900.00 - 197,200.00 - 246,500.00 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15% performance bonus. This posting is expected to close on Febuary 3, 2025.
