As an Operations and Pricing Strategist, your work will directly impact the achievement of financial and business objectives by driving the proposal bid and budget development process, synthesizing detailed client requirements with internal data in collaboration with key internal stakeholders to determine operational strategies with appropriate resource and budget allocations. You will manage cross-functional strategy development, alignment, and approval processes to ensure bids are operationally accurate and profitable. Working with team members to prepare and analyze budgets and costing models based on client information contained in the Request for Proposal (RFP). Acting as primary point of contact for operational strategy and pricing on allocated opportunities.

Essential Functions and Other Job Information:

  • Reads and interprets protocols, synopses, and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to understand the study requirements and which subject matter experts to consult. Assesses risk around assumptions and proposes appropriately balanced approaches for the need of the opportunity.

  • Consults with internal subject matter experts to determine labor requirements, site capacity, and recruitment expectations, advise on bidding for non-standard activities, and verify assumptions on specifications not identified in RFP in order develop operationally viable trial strategies in alignment with the commercial win strategy.

  • Ensures budget reflects operational strategy and aligns with the commercial win strategy, and oversees achievement of profitability targets.

  • Manages bid escalation process and advises commercial team on profitability metrics, providing financial analyses for approvals as needed.

  • Works within validated bidding tools to perform complex analyses of client budget to actual data, validate calculations and forecasting, and ensure accurate output of data in client required templates.

  • Analyzes budget to corporate metrics, client expectations and other benchmarks.

  • Prepares bids and proposals that conform to contract requirements and meet client needs, and applies quality control procedures to ensure all bids conform to departmental standards.

  • Develops clear and comprehensive process communication for successful bidding execution, conveys operational assumptions to analysts during bidding and operational teams at award to support successful execution of the study strategy.

  • Manages bid development process, maintaining continuity from operational strategy development to commercial terms application within external and internal timelines. Provides direction to team members in support roles.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years).

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Financial / budgetary knowledge

  • Working knowledge of project budgeting

  • Familiarity with the sales process and delivery of clinical research services

  • Effective organization and negotiation skills

  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Knowledge of CRO proposal development process is preferable

  • Strong knowledge of study conduct at site level preferred
