Job Description

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is seeking hands on problem solvers who want to play a direct role in optimizing and scaling the integrated assets that make up our rapidly growing Diversified Business Group (DBG). DBG is focused on driving improvements in health care outcomes, affordability, access and equity through investments and partnerships with innovative health care organizations in North Carolina and beyond.

As a member of the Integration and New Product Enablement team, an initiative-based team focused on ensuring strategic alignment and operationalization of new and refreshed capabilities that Blue Cross NC will support in partnership with our asset companies, you will leverage industry and portfolio/project management expertise to oversee the execution and management of key initiatives. You will also oversee planning and execution of a variety of merger, acquisition and/or alliance integration projects and activities. These initiatives are all connected to high priority Blue Cross NC deals/acquisitions and are key to ensuring the success of our investment partnerships. Your work will involve supporting the high-level design and scoping of these initiatives and monitoring and tracking the progress of execution plans to ensure success, as well as building deep relationships and interfacing with company leadership and relevant business and delivery teams. What You’ll Do

  • Assess business requirements, value drivers, identify key issues and risks/conclusions, and provide value through insights, factual conclusions and advice while guiding various business and organizational stakeholders through the M&A lifecycle

  • Support critical work with staff and teams across the company to develop high-level initiative business solution designs and execution plans, coordinating with delivery-focused project delivery teams to plan for implementation. Essentially, translating the deal/acquisition strategy into operational reality, supporting long-term success.

  • Support coordination and strategic alignment with segment leadership and asset leadership regarding strategic intent, operating model, and performance metrics for significant new products/services for asset companies and lines of business.

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with both internal and external partners to drive initiative efforts focused on delivering key business strategies and opportunities.

  • Lead engagement of stakeholders across the enterprise and third parties to expose high-level scope, factor in impacts, and generate implementation estimates, and the execution plan required to operationalize various asset’s products/services, to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Represent the team’s interests in portfolio initiatives within the project delivery process to ensure alignment with initiative intent and value proposition (i.e., act as initiative champion for the team), as well as leading project management activities for divisional projects.

  • Oversee program management for integration and new product enablement across business functions, identification and execution of operating model improvement, and tracking of financial impacts.

  • Coordinate with Finance to develop initiative financial business cases, including implementation budget, ongoing costs, and financial value.

  • Contribute to the development of annual and long-term project planning and operations efforts.

  • Participate in critical activities such as strategic planning, compliance and governance oversight, financial analysis, and thought leadership at a departmental, multi-function, and enterprise level.

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with both internal and external partners to drive project/initiative work focused on business strategies, opportunities, and innovation efforts.

What You’ll Give

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

  • 3+ years of experience in related field.

  • In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field.

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of experience in consulting, project or product management, or strategic planning strongly preferred.

  • Internal candidates with 5 years of broad-based health insurance/healthcare experience and direct, prior exposure to applicable strategy area (i.e., M&A, integration, strategic planning, project execution) will also be considered.

  • Some demonstrated experience contributing to the analysis of a company’s needs and supporting the development of business strategies as well as serving as a liaison to business executives, internal and external and/or other outside advisors.

  • Should have some previous experience identifying new opportunities, creating products/programs/solutions and/or supporting change efforts.

Salary Range

$77,200.00 - $123,400.00
